Apple also posted iMovie 4.0.1 updater.

The new version "provides increased performance when working with large projects, such as editing video clips and audio volume. iMovie 4.0.1 provides increased reliability when the application opens, when titles are added to the timeline, and with 3rd party plug-ins that are removed or no longer available to an iMovie project (for example, when you open a project on a different computer). Other improvements include fixes for pixelated video, corrupted Ken Burns clips, and loss of audio, which could occur after editing video or audio and then emptying the trash."

Why are none of these new updates appearing in the software update option in OS X? Has Apple changed it to having to go onto the web and search for all these now? I MUCH prefer just letting OS X do all the updating, so what gives?

Yeah - what's up with that?

Maybe it'll show up later. Apple's servers are probably hard pressed right now.

I hope this fixes all the issues associated with the large file syndrome of iMovie, where it pulls a "windows" and just unexpectadly quits.

Yeah, that's been annoying me too. Been working with lots of big files lately and iMovie has been a little tempermental. Hopefully, this update will fix it. I guess I'll find out tonight! :p

You're not kidding... iMovie 4's quits were predictable if nothing else... The problem of crashing when you added a title to the timeline was specifically addressed, hopefully it will solve this...

I think the iMovie update is only available to those who have a purchased version of iLife. Then you should find it in software update.

I think it takes a while... It appeared in mine... along with a lot of other stuff.

I concur.

This will be great, I have some "large projects" coming up.

I just finished a "large project" when I noticed this. It's a little sluggish, to say the least. If I did any amount of video work, a dual G5 would become a necessity.

could it have something to do with making sure it works with all the languages etc? in that case it would be quite reasonable to put it first on the web and wait over the night. the people who really care about updating their computers will be the first ones to test the software and if they've made mistakes, they'll get loads of feedback and they can fix the issues before the software goes to swupdate and millions of people will get it downloaded automatically...

IMOVIE 4.0.1

I installed the upgrade of iMovie and since imovie still recognises my JVC SR-VS30 dv/svhs recorder and I am able to control but when I want to share (export) it fails to communicate it also fails to bring my imovie picture to my monitor connected to the jvc recorder?.
