I figured it out:

The camera setting had been changed to HDV. On the G5 running iMovie 5.0.2, it imports as pink and green alternating with normal.

On my iMac running 6.0.3, it imports just fine.

My office staff of video newbies are making movies for the web with iMovie 5.0.2 on a Power Mac G5 and two Canon Vixia HV30s. Long story short, we have made about 10 videos under 10 minutes long with these machines and software. No problems.

Fast forward. The two videos most recently imported display in the main window and the clips pane as bright pink and green, punctuated now and then with sections of normal video. (The bad sections look like a LeRoy Neiman poster, if you are old enough to remember those.)

Before I start swapping cables, cameras, settings, etc., I thought I would ask here: Is there a known issue that causes this to happen?

I see only a couple posts elsewhere, with a variety of "solutions."

It is possible that one of us mucked up the settings on the camera(s). Should I reset both cameras to defaults and try again? If so -- what settings?

Thanks.
