Imovie 6.0.3 problem

hi hope someone can help me please as this is my first attempt

i am doing a project of clips with there own audio in imovie 6.0.3 and whilst adding transitions i get a noise during the transition eg adding the ripple transition i get a rippling noise during playback and also after exporting the movie

thank you for any advice
