iMovie 6 crashing on my MP...help?

I was using iMovie 6 tonight making a fast video. Whenever I went to delete a transition that was already rendered, iMovie would crash. I'm using 10.5.2 on my dual 2.8 MP. Any suggestions? I hate iMovie 7 and didn't have time for Final Cut Express.
