iMovie and 1080p

iMovie says it does 1080i, but not 1080p. I just imported 1080p25 video from my Canon HV20 (PAL) and it neatly edited the movie and exported it back to tape in full-quality 1080p25 format. Has there been an update to iMovie, or does the HV20 "trick" iMovie to think the footage is in 1080i?
