iMovie continues to lose connection

The Northern Plains of OK!
Guys I need a load of help here. I spent all weekend working on our family vacation movie. I want to export it to my camera, but it says the connection is lost. I then tried a different DV camera, same thing happened. I then tried importing footage, works fine. Any ideas? I will make a DVD but I dont have all day for iDVD to do its magic. HELP ME PLEASE! "Insert crying emoticon"
