Hello all,

I have a question, I will be doing a video trailer from iMovie and the templates they have, is the music in the templates copy-righted?

We can say I will be doing using the video for profitable purposes.

I'm asking this cause i don'[t want to get the company i work for in trouble and i'ts a simple video, not worth sending over to the design team.

The video will be sent in a newsletter and may be put in our website.

I emailed Apple and I should get a reply soon..

I believe content like that included with iMovie is royalty free. Should be no issue.

As others are stated you should be fine. Apple provides templates for you to use. That would be like me using an Aperture preset and getting sued for selling a photo made with it.

Thanks all for the replies, I'm also waiting for a confirmation regarding this from a representative from Apple's Corporate Executive Relations.

I will ask for a confirmation for collateral and then I'll be good to post it. ;)

It's in the iLife License Agreement:

C. You may use the Apple and third party audio content ("Audio Content"), contained in or otherwise included with the Apple Software, on a royalty-free basis, to create your own original soundtracks for your video and audio projects. You may broadcast and/or distribute your own soundtracks that were created using the Audio Content, however, individual samples, sound sets, or audio content may not be commercially or otherwise distributed on a standalone basis, nor may they be repacked in whole or in part as audio samples, sound files, sound effects or music beds.

So yes, you can use it royalty-free, and you now have the official document to cite.
