iMovie downgrades 60fps to 30fps?

When I load my GoPro 60fps vids to iMovie it seems iMovie automatically downgrades it to 30fps . I tried going through the app settings to correct this but with no luck. Is there a fix for this???

Somebody says they got 60 FPS (59.94 really) export to work in iMovie 11, but YMMV: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3114689?start=0&tstart=0

If you're going to do hardcore editing in 60 FPS, you might be better off with Final Cut Pro X or some other "pro" software that natively supports 60 FPS.

for some reason i can't even import my go pro videos into iMovie why is this?

I have found that I can not import directly from the SD card, so I simply save the file somewhere in the comp first then I can import with no issues.
