can someone tell me what this means!? i am trying to import a quicktime file into imovie and it won't do it. i have tried it in imovie and imovie hd. the file plays in quicktime. i have copied it from the disk onto the computer and that did not work either. i have a similar file that i copied from the same kind of disk and that went just fine. not sure what to do? why is the program not recognizing it?

It might play in QuickTime, but what will determine whether it can be imported into iMovie is the video codec used on the file. The codec can be determined by Get Info on the file in Finder or from the Window->Show Movie Inspector in QuickTime. If anything other than AAC, you'll probably have to convert the file using MPEG Streamclip or iSquint/VisualHub to a .dv or .mp4 file.

i tried to convert it with mpeg streamclip to .dv and .mp4 and neither worked. it converted the file, but still cannot import it into imovie or imovie hd. any thoughts?
