imovie exporting trouble

When i export my movie in imovie i get a purplish screen with white dashes but the audio remains intact. the original files have codecs supported by imovie so i am unsure y this is happening! Plz HELP!

This would depend on what version of iMovie you are using. If it is iMovie 08 then make sure you have all the updates, and keep in mind that this was not the very best release of the software. iMovie 08 has a lot of bugs that are somewhat resolved in iMovie 09. If that is not the problem then more information is needed such as exactly what you are doing to export the movie.
