I'm using iMovie 9.

I like and use the transition "fade to black". Works well.

What I'm looking to do is to create a "fade IN from black" to take me "into a clip", rather than out of it.

But the transition editor doesn't have this. Or at least I don't know how to set it up.

Are there any relatively easy ways to create a "fade in" from black?

I could thus:
a. fade to black
b. Insert a title on a black background, then...
c. Fade from black into my next clip.

After some further experimentation, I can answer my own question.
The answer is vexfully simple.
Just select "fade to black" and put it at the BEGINNING of the clip.
Instead of fading "out", it will fade IN ! ;)

(I suppose this is in the documentation somewhere, but I haven't read far enough to discover it)

Can you keyframe the clip opacity? It's been awhile since I used iMovie.
