ok im new to apple, what would be the best thing to render the video as for youtube videos?

I think youtube lists the specs for uploading video on their site somewhere. Use that as your guide. But I believe it must be 10 MBytes or smaller.

I would take my project. do share.

Select Quicktime

Select Expert Settings from the dropdown, then the filetype you think best for YouTube (.mov, .mp4, so on), then Save, Select a File name for the file to be saved then click Options.

Here you can set the bitrate. I would say 512 to start, you can increase if you want to.

Now set the aspect ratio. 320x240 should be fine for web. May be the max for YouTube anyway.

Check your audio settings, and then click OK, then Save again.

This should export your project in the format you just setup.
