Does anyone still have the .dmg that Apple had posted on their site? If it's not illegal, which I'm sure it probably is for some stupid reason, could they by chance e-mail me the it? I didn't have a need or even think to download it before it was discontinued until now...

If I meet the requirements that Apple gave, which is to have iLife '08 in order to install, then how is that illegal? Of course it's copyrighted, but how is it illegal to distribute something that they had for free posted on their site. I see no difference in that and downloading and distributing a software update.
Okay... well I guess I'll go through other means besides MacRumors. I honestly am not going to pay $80 for a software suite that is supposedly better, but will not benefit me in any way because their "new features" are honestly something I'll never use.

I'd suggest looking on sites like FileFront and the like to see if someone may have nabbed it before it was taken off. I know I have a copy of iMovie on a flash drive to bring from computer to computer with me whenever I'm working on a big project for an extended period of time.
