iMovie HD Help: Keeping audio in Sync

Having looked all over the 'net and macrumors I turn my question over to you, the experts.......

I just started using iMovie HD and am working on a 20 minute speech. I have pertinent footage taken after the speech that I would like to put into the 20 minutes worth of audio so my movie is more than just watchinng a guy speak. What is the best way to keep audio synced? I plan on going back and forth between the guy speaking and other clips (with some transitions) and want to make sure that the audio stays synced with his lips.
