i have video ready to be captured to imovie from a camera with a DV interface how can i compress the captured video? surely the DV interface isn't compressed already? (40min=8GB?!)

can i compress the final work before i put it through iDVD? the problem is i can't fit all the footage on a single DVD (dual layer). i have some other questions but i want to see if i could get this sorted out first.

Be thankful it isn't high framerate HD...1GB/min. You compress it after you capture and edit it.
