iMovie HD Slow.

Ok so i have iMovie HD on my imac g3.

500Mhz
20GB HDD
640 MB ram
16MB Graphics.
whenever i go to import standard-definition videos that are only around 4MB in size, it takes half an hour to import them.

are there any programs that would work better on my imac?
