I'm having a bit of a problem with iMovie HD that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I have two questions.

My first question is this; is it possible to reduce the volume of only a certain portion of a clip, and if so, how?

Also, I want to put text at a certain part of my movie, over the video that is playing, so both the text and the video show. Is that possible at all?

There is menu item, probably through View, that goes something like Show Audio Levels. Once you click on it, there will be a line over your footage. By clicking on that line and pushing the resulting little purple and yellow dots sideways or up and down, you can change the audio levels.

Yes. Bring your cliphead to the desired spot, cut the clip and use one of the title effects, but make sure the Over Black button is unchecked. I am not in front of my Mac, so the names of these menu items are not exact, but should be fairly close.
