iMovie HD - Transition problem

So I'm seeing this weird transition problem in my movie. I'm using iMovie HD with .dv clips extracted from a DVD using Cinematize. Can you not transition with .dv clips? (this is a cross dissolve, but it appears to happen on all)

Is this from all clips from that device, or all clips period? Also, have you changed the default frame rate to 25? I noticed transition issues when doing changeovers on some high res clips, This may be a limitation of the software.

No, it doesn't happen to all clips. When I capture as Quicktime .mov, the transitions work fine. But the problem there is iMovie letterboxes those clips and it really, really bugs me.

When I capture from DVD as .dv, iMovie doesn't letterbox. But I can't use transitions.

I'll have to try the frame rate thing.
