Ok, I used to have two video cameras, one was a Sony which worked fine with imovie and fce, however it is now broken and so no longer in use. My other camera is a Samsung, which isn't on the list of compatible cameras, with either imovie or fce. As such I was wondering there was any software, or patches that would allow the camera to be recognised?

There are a lot of cameras not on the compatible camera list which work just fine with iMovie. Try connecting your Samsung; it might just work.

iMovie HD works with the JVC HD10. Although that camcorder is pretty bad in low light and not at all suitable for pro work.

I use the JVC HD10 for pro work. It's perfectly suitable for the work I do (daylight outdoors and well-lit event and studio shooting). It's not a camera for all situations, but I don't use it in the situations where a PD150 would be a better choice.
