hey, i recently recorded a home video with a dvd camcorder, and i managed to rip the dvd with VLC onto my mac, but i can't import it into the imovie....

what preferances should i set the VLC to save the files so that i can edit it in imovie?

You probably really need the plug in for $20.

Hi, I don't know if we have/had the same problem... but i could not get my DVD into imovie no matter what I did... I had to get the latest Apple Quicktime and then buy for $20. (google it and buy it from apple)....the plug in called QuickTime MPEG2.dmg.... Now, finally, as I type this, it is loading into imovie after buying and downloading this... I tried everything, but I had to pay the $20.... Now I've got to learn to edit this without a book. I miss books, dagnabbit.... Good Luck!

Can you import directly into iMovie before you Rip it or use a program like handbrake? So import directly from camera into iMovie....
