iMovie help

Hi there,


I can watch my video files just fine on Quick time, however I cannot import the AVI file into iMovie. I have Mac OS X 10.5.6 and iMovie 7.1.4...I have Perian and VLC on my computer but have not had success with either. Any suggestions?
