I need help with iMovie. When I import some of my clips from my old camera or any camera, they just have a still of the last clip before that and it completely silent and has no video! I really need help as I am starting to do montages with iMovie!

P.S. I'm using iMovie 09

Which cameras are you using and how exactly do you import the footage?

Have you looked at Macintosh HD / Users / YOU / Movies / iMovie and seen if the clips stored in there are playable in QuickTime?

A more descriptive and precise thread title will help cater to the right audience and get you more responses. (see rule #3 under Minor Problems)
To edit your thread title, just click on the

button on the bottom right of your original post and then click the "Go Advanced" button below your message.

Have you also taken a look at MRoogle, since that question may have been asked several times?

I'm importing from the regular import option under "Edit" from a Nikon Coolpix that I used to use in 2009. It saves files in .avi so maybe that has to do with it? No I have not checked, I will have to go and do that.

Yes, I checked. It was stored there and had sound, and playing video.

Thus the .avi files have properly transcoded to .mov files I guess?

Have you tried creating a new project and seen if the videos work there?

Btw, you can edit your posts via the
edit.gif
button, or multi-quote posts via the
multiquote_off.gif
button, as sequential posts are "against" the rules.

Minor Problems

6. Sequential posts.
Combine your comments into one post rather than making many consecutive posts to a thread within a short period of time.

Nope haven't done that yet. I've deleted the clip and re-imported it.. but that didn't work :(
