iMovie import problem with old projects

Previously I have backed up a iMovie project by copying the content of the Movie directory
to an external harddisk. As far as I know I could copy the content (iMovie Events and iMovie
Projects) back to the Movie directory and all was again available in iMovie.

Recently I made a clean install of OS X Mavericks and installed iMovie 2013. Now it seems that
I of course can copy data from the external drive back to Movie directory on the Mac, though
iMovie doesn't recognize anything of the project.

Anyone any idea how to get the project properly imported into iMovie 2013 ?
