So I'm importing movies from Mini-DV tapes to my iMac via firewire.

It is important to note that ALL the tapes appear perfectly when viewed through the camcorder.

The problem, however, is iMovie and importing the videos. If you're familiar with iMovie 08 when you're importing a movie a new window is open and in the upper left corder you see the text "Importing" displayed, and in the upper right corner you see the count 00:00:00 which increments. I think this is the problem. The numbers for some of my tapes jump all over the place, get stuck, start at 00:00:00, jump, get stuck, and I can see iMovie creating clips. to the tune of over 5,000 clips for one Mini-DV cassette and the length of the clips are .1 second, .05 second, 04 second, etc., etc., so when played back it jumps and jumps, skips and skips and I'm frustrated.

I really want to get my home videos on the computer to edit and put together some family videos but iMovie (even iMovie HD 06) isn't importing them correctly.

So in summary:
Creation thousands and thousands of .DV files
Importing numbers (00:00:00) skip on some tapes/segments.
And iMovie occasionally crashed.

Help me please!!!
