Hi,

I really need some help.

It is a dv file that is 4:3. I used Streamclip to rip it to my Mac.

I import it to iMovie '09. In the event viewer timeline the picture is stretched to 16:9 (play it and the video has black bars on the top and bottom).

So when I create the project I make it 4:3. The project timeline also shows it stretched, but if I play the video it appears with the sides cropped.

How do I get a proper aspect ratio for 4:3 video?

Just to add - quicktime plays the original dv file in the correct aspect ratio with no cropping. Also, the camcorder that was used originally was only capable of 4:3.

Cheers

cropping

Maybe the issue is that the video is being cropped? There is a toolbar in the center of the iMovie window that has a microphone, cropping image (looks like an L and an upside down L) and in 'i' inside a circle. Check out what the cropping one does for your clip.
