I keep all my pics and vids on my external drive. I moved iPhoto to my external. But that is pics. Should I do the sane with iMovie? Or would that slow editing down? Since my internal is SSD. Or should I edit it and import the movie keeping my iMovie on my internal and then move the videos over once completed? Thank you.

My suggestion:

Keep your -apps- (iPhoto, iMovie) on the SSD.

Keep your data files on the HDD.

You could go one better than using the HDD for all media storage and use the SSD for current video projects and the HDD to archive complete projects. There's no contest between a HDD and an SSD for opening projects, rendering transitions or editing because the vastly faster I/O of an SSD makes your CPU the only bottleneck.

Ok cool thank you. I will keep imovie on my ssd and tranfer the movies over once completed. Thanks!
