imovie locked up?

Hello,

I am was making a movie copied a large bit and pasted it, it pasted then imovie locked up. i forced closed it, now when i open imovie it just has the spinning ball. in activity monitor imovie is not responding but the CPU % is going from 90 to 100.

so is imovie really locked up or is it working just have to wait for it?

been waiting now for 15 mins.
