imovie o8 won't let me export in large format anymore why?

i started out useing imovie 08 and it used to let me export in large format and now for some reason it does not.i started out by converting my recorded tv show by going from handbrake,to put it in mp4 then converting from mp4 to . mov with prism.i recently discovered a software called amerisoft dvd ripper that would allow me to bypass all the other steps and convert straight to . mov from my recorded tv shows.i guess my main question is why wont imovie 08 allow me to export in large format anymore, all that is available is mobile. i ordered final cut express 4 is it any better. thank you for your time and have a nice night
