iMovie quality

I can't seem to figure out iMovie. I recently made a movie from a compilation of video clips i had on my computer. Then I exported it to iDVD to create my DVD. I also threw in some of the full clips of the files I used to create my personal movie clip. When I play the DVD on my TV, the movie I created has really crappy video quality, while when I play the other clips on my TV, they are in great quality. Whats up with this? Thanks
