iMovie Question

Stupid question. If i'm importing movies from a camcorder do i do it through iMovie or iPhoto? When i plugged the camcorder in it brought up iPhoto which surprised me. Please help.

What specific camcorder? It sounds like it is a digital camera with movie recording abilities, if that is the case, use iPhoto to import the movies and in iMovie you can access them via the Share Media panel or so.
