iMovie random crash's?

Occasionally, when i work in iMovie, the application seems to just randomly crash on me. Is this normal?

it shouldn't be. With this version of iLife though, yes.. I've had this version crash on me more then previous versions, and same with my friend.

That kinda sucks. I mean, i really like using it, but it just seems to be too unstable right now, everytime i make some good progress in a movie, it crashs and i lose my progress. I'd get final cut but its much too expensive, nor am i really doing any REAL movie making, just home video stuff to dvd.
