iMovie slow export

Hey there,

I deal with longish clips (~45 min.) and it takes an hour to import and 2 hours to export from iMovie. I figured out how to bypass the import by placing the file directly in the event folder, however exporting is still a problem. I heard exporting to a thumb drive is faster -- is this true? Or are there other programs that import/export quicker?

I don't think exporting to a thumb drive will help you. A video render like that is more bound by your CPU power. The more powerful your CPU the faster the render. Not much you can do to improve this other than buying a Mac with a faster CPU.
