iMovie: Text Clips?

Hi,

I'm looking to create a 3-4 min iMovie presentation using a song from my Apple Music library on my iPad Air.

Question:
I want to insert text in between images (white background with black text). Do I need to create jpegs of the text and then insert them like I would a normal image or can I use iMovie to create the text with the white background?

I'm looking to insert about 100 of these (all different). It's a concept demonstration video whereby I want to display a conversation of text in between each image.
