Imovie: Titles/effects

hello there, i was hoping someone could advise me on a specific problem i am having with imovie.

i can't seem to add effects (eg 'earthquake') to an existing title. it look sfine on th preview, but after rendering it just comes out white...

any help would be greatly appreciated!

iMovie always does weird things like that to me. A simple restart usually fixes the problem.
