iMovie to DVD

I have made an iMovie using very high quality photos with KBE and other transitions. It plays as an iMovie fine but when exported to a Quick Time movie, the video plays in "steps" instead of fluid motion and there are ripples in the images. I have imported the original file as a clip into Final Cut Pro and exported it and still the same problem. I have also re-set levels for broadcast quality. This video needs to be projected on a large screen. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.
