iMovie To iDVD

I am using the latest iMovie and iDVD. When I share a movie and send to iDVD from imove my project automatically starts,preparing project creating movie. When the project is finished if I check the info I see the project was encoded using the best performance setting if I want to change to a better quality I have to encode again. I can not find a way to set quality level prior to sending to iDVD. Can this be done ?

I guess no one has run into this problem ?? Where are all the Mac Geeks ?
This is my first Mac. If there is no way to set Imovie quality before the encoding starts this is insane. Maybe Apple wants me to spend a grand on Final Cut. I am glad I did not switch totally. I am glad I kept my PC.
