imovie turned garbage?

I've used imovie for a while. Always with the same file format from the same camera.

All of the sudden, imovie is not recognizing MOV, AVI, M4V files. I searched the forum here and found similar problems from other folks, Im wondering if a solution was found?

I've uninstalled the old version and installed the iLife 11 version of imovie and still have the same problem.
