IMovie: Unable to import from HDD Camera

Hi

I have a Sony DC SR70 HDD camera which is sadly not a model supported by iMovie. Sometimes when I connect my camera to my Mac (MacBook Pro 7.1 IC 2 Core) iMovie opens and shows the import screen and I am able to import without any issues. Other times it just plum ignores all my desperate attempts to download my clips!!

I cannot figure out why it only works sometimes? Does anyone have any ideas?

Does your camera give you an option to use camera as disk drive when plugging to your mac?

I too had issues with my sony, until I figured out that I need to jump through the hoops.

yeah it does. I manually download .mpg files to my mac then convert on iSkysoft and finally load to iMovie which is a long winded process.
