iMovie Video Editing to Main Area

So I've edited the video to how I want it. Then I tried dragging it down to the main area. Doesn't work. Copy and Pasting doesn't seem to work too. Help please!!!

I think you may be slightly confused by the interface. The newer versions of iMovie (7 and 8, also known as '08 and '09 respectively) use an Event Library to house the raw unedited clips, and a Project Library which uses reference data to identify what sections of the clips you have selected for use in a final edited project. Since the editing is mostly selecting, dragging, then dropping clips into the current project, I'm not quite sure I follow what you're describing. Perhaps these video tutorials links will explain somewhat more clearly the basic workflow of iMovie? First and second. The second link has distinctions between videos corresponding to iMovie '08 and iMovie '09.
