The title says it all. I just purchased my first Mac a couple months ago, and I'd really like to see this new H.264 codec that everyone is talking about. Unfortunately, the option to select H.264 encoding in iMovie HD is grayed out. First I tried using the free x.264 component, both the version from the Apple download site, and a newer version grabbed from videolan.org. No luck there.
So I sucked it up and got myself upgraded to Quicktime Pro, figuring that would solve it...and yet the H.264 option still remains grayed out. An hour with Google has given me no helpful advice, although I have seen about six hundred press releases raving about the fabulousness of H.264. What do I have to do to get this to work?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated
