iMovies no audio for sony imports

Help - I have imported all my sony hd movies into iMovies successfully however there is no audio for the files when i play them.I have iMovie09 and it took 8 hours to import the years worth of kids vid.


If i play the files in quicktime the audio is there, but when its played in iMovie its not.

Have i imported them incorrectly or do I need to do somthing else?
