Hi, I bought a new USB/FW800/FW400 enclosure from a specialist Mac store. In system profiler it is listed as a "Impact TBS120 Rev B". I am a bit annoyed as I was expecting an Oxford 924 and this the same place that sold me a Macpower enclosure with a Prolific 3507 chipset a few years ago. It was rather expensive (about US$150) and won't mount on my PPC Powerbook's FW800, otherwise it seems to work mostly OK.

Anybody know anything about this chipset? Should i return it?

Try mounting on another computer.

Mounts fine using FW800 on my Macbook Pro. Won't mount on a 1.67 g4 powerbook using either FW400 or FW800. Was not recognised by a Intel C2D Mac Mini using FW400 until restart. Havn't tried it on my FW800 MDD yet.

I am taking it back. It is rather annoying that the only Mac store in Sydney with a half decent reputation keeps on selling me supposedly Mac compatible enclosures with dodgy and/or unproven chipsets.
