impending mbp failure

hi, i have 15 inch mbp (late 2008). I just noticed recently that whenver i open safari, i would get to see sometimes lines of a rage of colors for a split second, then would work normally. Does this mean anything? Could it be that my mbp is starting to show signs or failure? What could probably be causing it? Thanks!

You can ask the Apple Hardware Test. See if that turns anything up.
