import contacts from iphone to mac (HD failed)

my macbook HD crashed and I was not able to recover it.

I was able to import all my music from my iphone onto my new HD, but I cannot find a program allowing me to import my contacts. If I sync my iphone now, itunes will erase all of my contacts.

is there any program available for this purpose?

MobileME. You can tell it what direction to go (Iphone to mac, or mac to iphone). Get a free "trial" ME account. Then carefully set it up.

You can probly do it with itunes too.

iTunes. You plug in the phone, backup in iTunes and then sync after setting iTunes to sync with Address Book. If you get a message asking to merge contacts, select merge.

To be able to merge iPhone contacts with Mac Address Book contact you must have at least one contact in the Mac Address Book. Just create a dummy contact which can then be deleted after the merge.
