i have a 3-4 year old dvd of some performances i did. the dvd was made with a pc. the original tape that the footage was recorded on is a professional tape that is about a foot long. i do not have a video camera to play this kind of tape. i do however have a video camera that records onto mini dv tapes. my goal is to somehow get the footage off the dvd and import it into imovie so that i can edit it and put it on my website. when i try to import the dvd it won't let me. any tricks?

Handbrake

Yes Handbrake is a great tool for ripping DVDs (for own personal legal use and such): www.handbrake.fr
Works well for mac, but I haven't been able to get the windows version to work.

Handbrake. If you use the presets from the preset menu (right side of the app screen, visible by default)
a good rip shouldn't be too much of a pain
