Ok - at the risk of probably being yet another post about this topic, let me ask a very specific question...

How would one import (rip) a DVD onto a HD while also limiting its size to accommodate for a dearth of HD space?

In other words, while I may have 10 gigs of free space on my laptop, I don't want to use half of that importing a film to watch on the road. Instead, I'd like to limit the movie's resolution so I could take it with me while still leaving space free.

I know that the quality of the film would suffer, but watching a flick on a 12" iBook screen ain't that nice HDTV at home, anyways.

I'm rather familiar w/ MacTheRipper and DVD2oneX, but most threads really deal with making "backups" or ripping at the highest resolution or bit-rate possible.

What I'm thinking of is actually the opposite...

Thanks

Use HandBrake, get it from www.versiontracker.com. you can rip it to a certain size.
