Just purchased a new powerbook G4; I need to import over a thousand previous emails from my old G4 powerbook. How do I go about doing this?

I have read a few tutorials, downloaded the com.apple.mail.plist and address book folder from library/preferences. But I do not think it is correct as my 1000 emails on the G4 is only 8kb. Yet my new machine with only a few emails is 10kb :(.

Four easy steps:
  1. Launch Mail.
  2. Select the File/Import Mailboxes... menu item.
  3. Chose the email client from the list.
  4. Click [Continue].

Thanks for that, I have done what you said. I'm not sure how to import though. I have copied on disc my 'com.apple.mail.plist' from my old computer and loaded transferred the disc onto my new mac.
However When I go to import the com.apple.mail.plist does not appear as importable.
