Import iDVD project back into iMovie

I made an iDVD project a while ago and discarded everything but the DVD disk. Now I want to import the project back into iMovie to use it as part of another project. Is this possible?

It seems like I could play it on the TV and then import it into the computer, but I have forgotten how and what equipment and programs that I would need.

Check out Handbrake. You can import the footage as a video file and then re-edit it.

How do you do it

I dowloaded handbrake. Now what? Do I upload the idvd project and then what? Still learning how to use my mac.
