Hello!

How do I record video from the Sony HDR-FX1 to my mac (Final cut Pro/Express)? I can't seem to get any signal from it at all. Does anybody here own this camera, or know what settings to put in to Final Cut to get it to recognize the camcorder?

Thank you!

I once rented the exact same camera (I believe), wish I could have one. But you didn't tell what you already did.

This is what I did;

-open fcp
-connect the camera with fire wire (4 pin to 6 pin or 4pin to 9pin)
-set the camera to playback
-File; log and capture (or command 8)
-make sure the capture settings are okay (I only could do it SD, but I probably had the capture settings wrong, but I filmed only SD, I just experimented a little bit with HD).
-press capture now
-press play on the camera

Now it should capture and play the tape (you should see a screen with the footage playing on your monitor).

Does this work.

I got it to work, by setting the "easy settings" to "HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60"
Works like a charm :)
Thanks for the help!
