I can't get this to work...

My old iMac running Panther (10.3) died, so I now have a new iMac and Leopard. I have all my mail is backed up (the user/library/Mail folder) but nether importing OS X Mail or the Mailboxes from file:Import work.

The import happens, but some are missing and all the messages are blank.

Apparently this is a problem with 10.4 messages as well, but there is a workaround for that – just not for 10.3 :(

And I can't upgrade Panther to Tiger as my old computer is broken.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Because I don't have a computer to transfer from...

Anyway Migration Assistant only does whole accounts :\

I find that the official way to migrate mail across rarely works properly, in my experience.
Only doing a manual transfer proved satisfactory. All I did was move the mail folder over, and the mail plist (preference) files and it worked 1st time.

Are you able to retrieve your 10.3 mail plist files somehow? (If the old hd isnt dead, then perhaps put it in an external drive case to access such files) If so then its a very easy job to get mail working properly on your new mac.
